TidalCap One case study

Custom investment operations software built around the firm's real operating model.

TidalCap One is a role-aware investor operations portal for private capital firms, with separate workflows for LPs, GP teams, representatives, and administrators over one shared fund, series, holdings, ownership, document, activity, and reporting model.

The challenge

Investment operations do not fit neatly into a generic dashboard. LPs need a clear view of only their own funds, series, holdings, performance, documents, distributions, and portfolio value. GP teams and representatives need cross-client visibility, but only for the relationships assigned to them.

Administrators need control over onboarding, assignments, investments, funds, series, holdings, ownership, documents, reporting, activity history, and corrections.

The system had to model the operation itself, not just display tables. Fund structures, series participation, investor ownership, document access, representative assignments, activity monitoring, and reporting outputs all needed to agree across separate user experiences.

The solution

BlueSail AI modeled the operation directly. Funds contain series. Series connect to holdings. Investor commitments connect clients to those series. Representatives connect to assigned client books. Documents attach to the right investor, investment, fund, and series.

From that model, TidalCap One creates purpose-built workflows for LPs, GP teams, representatives, and administrators. LPs get self-service portfolio and document access. GP teams and reps get visibility into assigned relationships, fund participation, document read receipts, activity history, and client reporting.

Administrators manage the complete operating model behind the portal, including clients, representatives, funds, series, holdings, ownership, documents, reporting, and corrections.

Eli is fantastic to work with. He helped us with our client portal that has helped out our firm tremendously. I would recommend Eli and his company for any firm.

What BlueSail AI built

Production software around the real workflow.

Investor self-service

LPs view their own investments, funds, series, holdings, performance, documents, distributions, and portfolio value through a white-label portal. Investor-facing metrics include invested amount, ownership percentage, committed and unfunded commitment, total distributions, distribution count and last distribution date, current portfolio value, net gain, MOIC, DPI, RVPI, TVPI, and XIRR.

GP and representative workspace

The portal is not only for LPs. GP teams and representatives work across assigned client relationships without access bleed. They review assigned-client investments, fund drilldowns, document activity and read receipts, unread-document status, login and session activity, activity exports, and client-ready investment summaries.

Administration and operations

Administrators manage clients, representatives, assignments, funds, series, holdings, investments, ownership, documents, reporting, and corrections. The portal supports bulk client invitations, bulk investment imports, document tagging, ownership updates, and recalculation workflows when investment data changes.

Documents and activity monitoring

Documents are uploaded, tagged with the right investor, investment, fund, and series context, and delivered through role-scoped views. Download status, timestamps, read-receipt-style tracking, and activity history show what was delivered, what was opened, what remains unread, and when.

Reporting

TidalCap One turns operational data into investment-summary PDFs, bulk PDF bundles with ZIP packaging, stock and holding reports, client-overview spreadsheets, login and session activity exports, CSV import templates, and targeted communication lists by fund, series, representative, client group, or individual client.

Holdings and corporate actions

The platform handles holdings, lockups, exits, distributions, conversions, distributed or converted positions, stock splits, mergers, ticker changes, and status updates so portfolio views, ownership records, investor reporting, and admin workflows stay aligned as real-world investment data changes.

Access, audit, and corrections

Access is enforced across authenticated sessions, role-aware routing, API checks, and database-level policies. Investor access ties to the authenticated investor record; representative access is limited to assigned clients; administrators retain the broader operating view. The platform keeps audit records, session activity, consent history, document state, and correction records that keep investor, user, investment, series, and fund totals aligned.

What it replaced

Less manual work and fewer fragile handoffs.

  • Manual document fulfillment and resend requests.
  • Hand-built investor summaries before client calls.
  • Spreadsheet-based investment and ownership tracking.
  • Manual fund, series, representative, and client email-list assembly.
  • Bulk onboarding and investment entry handled one record at a time.
  • Activity and document-access questions answered without reliable portal history.
The broader point

TidalCap One is not just a private equity portal. It is an example of how BlueSail AI learns a complicated financial operation, models the data and permissions correctly, and builds production software around how the business actually works.
